Idea of the conference
Arbitration is a rapidly growing form of alternative dispute resolution. Taking into account the fact that the economic and political environment more and more often shifts litigation – from its traditional forum, situated within the common courts, to the path of arbitration, the Cegielski Center for Analysis decided to enable all interested parties to submit their disputes to arbitration. Hence, the Centre decided to establish its own arbitration court: young, dynamic and fully responsive to the needs and expectations of its clients.
The main objective of this conference is to familiarize participants with what “arbitration” is in general. “Modern Arbitration” fits perfectly into all visible trends. The discussion concerning arbitration may refer to various issues developed by the Polish doctrine and judicature. Nevertheless, arbitration seems to be distant from the current day-to-day application when questions about its essence, benefits, initiation of proceedings with questions about the award are not raised.

Conference location – Isser Kon’s tenement house
– Bagatela 12
Built as a typical profitable tenement house. The façade of the front building was early-modernist, with elements of Rococo and Classicism. During World War I, the building was used by the Warsaw University of Technology. From 1918, the University of Technology provided, among others, headquarters of three academic corporations: Welecja, Sarmatia and Arkonia. In the years 1919-30, the tenement house housed the offices of the Ministry of Religious Denominations and Public Education, and then, until the war, the offices of the Warsaw School District Board. After the abolition of the Board of Trustees, from June 1940, the building housed the German Department of Polish Education. During the war, the State Women’s School of Commerce and the State School for Preschoolers were also active here. It was not significantly damaged during World War II. Currently, the building is used as an office building, and it houses the seat of Collegium Intermarium.
